SUMMARY:Trusteeship Retreat in Long Beach/Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Frieda’s Inc.
DESCRIPTION:This year’s Trusteeship Retreat took place in Long Beach\, often called Southern California’s best-kept secret.  Thanks to Karen and Frieda Caplan and the staff of Freida’s Inc.\, members enjoyed a weekend of fun\, food and friendship in a beautiful city.  Friday evening’s kick-off celebrated the 50th anniversary of Frieda’s Inc. at the company’s headquarters\, which had been transformed from a corporate space into an inviting\, festive dining area.  The delicious meal featured Frieda’s specialty fruits\, vegetables and gourmet products.  After dinner\, a panel of experts brought members up-to-date on Food and Future Trends. \nSaturday’s schedule included tours of the Port of Long Beach and Rancho Los Cerritos\, and the Meredith MacRae Empowerment Award Luncheon and presentation to Olga Murray of the Nepal Youth Foundation.  Olga charmed everyone with her vibrant personality and impressed us with her determination and dedication to the young people of that nation.  A delicious sunset dinner at the Long Beach Yacht Club provided a perfect ending to a lovely day.  On Sunday\, many members enjoyed a private\, behind-the-scenes tour of the Aquarium of the Pacific followed by Brunch at Claire’s and a tour of the Long Beach Museum of Art. \nMany\, many thanks to Karen and Frieda Caplan and the terrific staff at Frieda’s\, to Jean Bixby Smith and Geraldine Knatz for their part in organizing and participating in tours\, and to all Trusteeship members who made this such a memorable weekend.
