Led by its charismatic artistic director Osnel Delgado\, Malpaso is committed to bringing Cuban contemporary dance into the 21st century by fusing movements from the streets with traditional dance through collaborations with top international choreographers and new voices in Cuban dance. \nHome to iconic dance traditions such as the Habanera\, Son\, Mambo and Cha-Cha\, Cuba has a deep history as “a dancing island.” Malpaso honors that history\, yet creates a dance vocabulary all its own\, blending ballet technique with earthy modern dance articulated by fluid athleticism. \n\n\n\n\nThis dance presentation is a special add-on engagement to the 17/18 Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center season and part of The Music Center’s Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA programming\, Cuba: Antes/Ahora\, Then/Now\, a three-day event featuring celebrated dancers\, musicians and visual artists from all over Cuba.

Barbara Bundy\, VP of FIDM\, has extended an invitation to The Trusteeship for a private hospitality event PRIOR to its opening on Monday evening\, August 21st. Barbara will have the museum’s curator on hand to present a show-and-tell about the FIDM costume collection\, and there will be hors d’oeuvres\, etc. \nPlease join us!

DESCRIPTION:Metro Art Moves  is a free series of regularly scheduled and special tours of artwork in the Metro Rail system. We will be a part of a private tour led by our own Metro Art Docent Council volunteer who will provide insights into the artworks\, artists and art-making processes. Special tours heighten the passenger experience in novel and engaging ways through the perspective\, experience and knowledge of artists and cultural experts. \nWe will begin our tour at Union Station\, downtown LA and will receive a “free” rail pass and end our tour with a lunch at Traxx at Union Station.
