President’s Message

Dear Stellar Women of IWF – Trusteeship,

As we move into April, the world around us continues to feel complex and, at times, heavy and dark. It can be difficult to know where to focus or how to engage.

And yet, what defines us at IWF – Trusteeship is clarity of purpose.

Each of us has a meaningful sphere of influence. Not everywhere, not in everything, but in the places and with the people entrusted to us. And what we bring into that sphere matters.

Recently, a moment cut through the noise in a powerful way: the launch of Artemis II. As the mission prepared for liftoff, Mission Launch Director Charlie Blackwell-Thompson, one of our own, an IWF Fellow, shared:

“On this historic mission, you take with you the heart of this Artemis team, the daring spirit of the American people and our partners across the globe, and the hopes and dreams of a new generation. Good luck. Godspeed, Artemis II. Let’s go.”

It was a striking reminder that even in complex times, there is still vision, collaboration, and forward motion.

We may not be launching spacecraft, but within our own spheres, we can lead with clarity and, yes, bring light.

And often, that is exactly what is needed.

With Much appreciation,

XO,

Linda

2026 Survey

Your Voice Will Help Shape What Comes Next

The 2026 short member survey to update our understanding of the interests and priorities of our IWF – Trusteeship community is closing this week!

Our last comprehensive survey in 2022–23 saw wonderful participation and helped guide programming during a time of transition following COVID. A great deal has evolved since then, and your voice will help shape what comes next.

We hope you’ll take a few minutes to participate. Your insights will help us create programming and initiatives that reflect the strength and diversity of our membership.

Your perspective matters—and just a few minutes will help guide the future direction of our programming and community.

Great News! I am up for two exciting honors. The first is the nomination for an Honorary Doctorate Degree from New Mexico Highlands University. My nomination is before the Faculty Senate.

As you know my career in Journalism began as the first Mexican American woman to appear on a network television station, KNBC/TV, Los Angeles. My career spanned 38 years, and I am now a nominee for a National Association of Hispanic Journalists, NAHJ, Hall of Fame Award. Wish me luck!
